Statement of the Problem. The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing importance of examining gender-specific features of the value-semantic sphere of the Russian population amid contemporary socio-economic changes and the insufficient representation of comprehensive research on this topic.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the gender-specific features of the value-semantic sphere of the population of the Russian Federation.

Methods and respondents. In a panel study with a sample of 1398 individuals (aged 16–65, 51.4% women), basic and significant values were examined by a multi-stage value research methodology. Standardized questionnaires on self-control, aggression legitimization, and social frustration were applied.

Findings. Analysis of the data showed that the choice of values by men and women was almost identical. The dominant values among men included four social values (Life, Respect for Ancestors, Traditional Family, Dignity) and one anti-value (Independence). Among women, the dominant values were also four social values (Life, Dignity, Respect for Ancestors, and Human Rights and Freedoms) and one anti-value (Self-Care).

In the structure of significant values in the male sample, social values accounted for 64.07%, anti-values for 35.93%. The main social values were Traditional Family, Life, Dignity, and Respect for Ancestors. In the female sample, social values made up 64.36%, anti-values 35.64%, with the dominant values being Life, Traditional Family, and Dignity.

A comparative analysis of psychological gender differences revealed that women demonstrate a higher integral indicator of legitimization of aggression and higher levels of aggression in political spheres, personal experience, and upbringing. Men were characterized by higher satisfaction with relationships with close others, their social status, and a higher level of social frustration.

Conclusion & Significance. The study found that despite the similarity in value orientations between men and women, significant psychological differences exist in manifestations of aggression, emotional-behavioral aspects, and social attitudes. These differences are important to consider when developing social and psychological programs and open up prospects for further research into the value-semantic sphere with regard to the gender factor.
