The article is devoted to the problem of socio-psychological adaptation of young people in a situation of transitivity. In a situation of transitivity, young people can adapt in completely different ways, because it also depends on personal characteristics, individual qualities, features of socialization and the very process of socio-psychological adaptation. Our empirical study involved (n = 120): 70 young people and 50 adolescents aged 14–15 years. The results of the empirical study showed that socio-psychological adaptation as a process of active adaptation of a person to the social environment, through the development of norms, rules and social roles imposed on him by society, in a situation of transitivity among young people is more successful than among adolescents. Thus, young people have high adaptability, are distinguished by emotional stability, optimism towards ongoing events in social reality, surrounding objects and phenomena. Young people, to a greater extent, are distinguished by their predisposition to an internal locus of control (internality). They are able to take responsibility for everything that happens in their lives. The effectiveness of the activity is determined only by their skills and abilities, and not by luck, a happy accident or other external circumstances. Young people have more stable self-esteem. Young people are actively focused on the process of communication, interpersonal interaction, have a need for affiliation and need joint activities due to educational and professional activities and more stable intimate personal relationships. Youth and adolescents strive for leadership in solving problems, focused on success. Young people in the context of socio-psychological adaptation are less prone to maladjustment, emotional discomfort, external control and accountability.
