From the Editor
Editor-in-chief of the journal «New psychological research» T. D. Martsinkovskaya, Moscow, 30 December 2022
Dear friends, I am glad to present the fourth issue of our journal. As always, it is dedicated to the most relevant and diverse problems that have become challenges for both our science and our society this year. Their relevance, however, does not contradict the fact that the questions that are at the center of the investigations of our authors have remained and persist now in the focus of psychological problems for a long period of time. The perception of these problems is changing and, of course, their content is enriched and becomes more complicated.
In the article of N.S. Poleva “Everyday life as a strategy for coping with the challenges of transitive and virtual space” is showing how the process of restoring the routines of everyday life becomes coping behavior, while the resources of everyday life are not “switched on” immediately, since everyday life often “crumbles” during acute crises. The article also emphasizes the possibility of changing or combining strategies/styles depending on the stage of passing through a stressful situation.
In the article by N.A. Andreeva “Personal and situational factors of digital identity in the modern transitive world” reveals how modern reality affects people’s activity in the digital space. The construction of digital identity is directly related to self-presentation and is becoming more and more connected not only with the style of identity and the leading way of perceiving and processing information, but also with the ability of self-changings, which is becoming a new characteristic of a person in the digital world.
The growing influence of new media leads, among other things, to the emerging in many people feeling of closeness with various media characters. This results, as shown in the article by D.P. Tkachenko and T.S. Samsonov “Approbation and the first stage of standardization of the methodology Multi-genre questionnaire of parasocial relations MOPS-O” to the need of developing new methods aimed at assessing these relations.
In the article by D.A. Khoroshilov “Social institutions and the problem of evil in psychology” on the example of the “Second Book” of memoirs by N.Ya. Mandelstam analyzes the latent institutional prerequisites for the emergence of “social evil” and reveals the content of interdisciplinary studies of this phenomenon.
In the article by S.N. Kostromina, N.L. Moskvicheva, E.V. Zinovieva, M.M. Odintsova and E.A. Zaitseva “The Phenomenon of Self-Determination: Psychological Origins and Modern Understanding” reveals the content of diverse approaches to the problem of self-determined behavior, which is becoming increasingly relevant in the modern world. The authors propose their own definition of the phenomenon of self-determination as a multi-level dynamic system.
In the article by E.M. Dubovskaya and M.D. Sat “To the question of the specificity of information socialization in different ethno-cultural environments” presents the results of a study involving Tuvan urban and rural adolescents and adolescents living in the Moscow region. It is shown not only a greater variety of information fields among adolescents near Moscow, compared with adolescents from Tuva, but also the specificity of the living space and ethno-cultural specifics that affect activity in the Internet space.
Article by E.Yu. Balashova and L.I. Mikeladze “Depressions of late age: clinical and psychological aspects of research” is devoted to the analysis of clinical and psychological studies of various aspects of depressive disorders in old age and factors that increase the risk of depression. It is proved that such analysis allows to approach the solution of one of the fundamental issues of clinical psychology – the differentiation of normal and pathological manifestations of aging.
In the article by E.I. Rasskazova, E.G. Demenko, A.Sh. Tkhostov and A.I. Frolova “The relationship of psychological self-regulation in adolescents and young people with the risk of their involvement in the use of drugs” presents a methodological complex aimed at identifying the characteristics of psychological self-regulation in adolescents and young people involved in the use of drugs. Based on the results of its testing, it is concluded that this complex can be used in the future in the case of upgrading the scales of voluntary regulation difficulties and antisocial tendencies in a sample of people involved in the use of drugs.
In the article by V.A. Karpuk “Interior as an everyday reality and as an addition to personal identity” provides the results of studying the relationship between some personal characteristics of people and the interiors they choose: Loft, Art Deco, Minimalism and Scandinavian. The results obtained make it possible to reveal the relationship between people’s attitude to themselves and to the world and the choice of an interior that already carries certain values and attitudes already embedded in it.
In the “Book Review” we present reviews by N.Yu. Fedunina on the book of Anne Alvarez “Live Company: Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Autistic, Borderline, Deprived and Abused Children”, Routledge, 1992 and the review by M.S. Guseltseva “The Cambridge Handbook of Personality Psychology”. Eds. P. Corr & G. Matthews. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2020.
Anna Alvarez’s book is a classic of psychoanalysis; it has made a huge contribution to understanding the inner world of autistic, psychotic and borderline children, as well as to the transformation of psychological treatments.
The Cambridge Manual of Personality Psychology summarizes cutting-edge research in this area, including new methodologies and technologies, advances in molecular genetics and functional neuroimaging, advances in psychometric and modern statistical approaches, perspectives from social-cognitive psychology and trends that study everyday human life in the real world. .
And in conclusion of my preface, I congratulate all our colleagues, authors and readers with the coming New Year and wish everyone peace, prosperity and optimism!!!
